Natural Space Counselling
Outdoor/Nature Therapy Agreement
Outdoor/Nature Therapy Information & Agreement.
Note: This is additional to the Counselling Contract.
Nature Therapy /Outdoor Therapy has many benefits, both to the process of counselling and to general health and wellbeing. There are a few additional things we must consider and agree on.

-
You must take responsibility for yourself with regards your health, therefore any medication you might need must be brought with you e.g., inhaler for asthma, sunscreen, EpiPen etc. Please advise me of any health issues in the Intake Form
-
Be prepared for the weather. Wear suitable coats, hats, shoes, etc. Bring a mobile phone and a drink with you.
-
Let me know if there are any considerations i.e., allergies or phobias I need to be aware of e.g., bee stings, fear of dogs, fear of birds.
-
We will discuss a location/route with weather, time and health in mind. Where possible this will be based on your preference – urban, park, beach, woods, flat, hills etc.
-
It is possible we will see people we know when we are out, or each other outwith sessions. We will discuss this and what to do. Confidentiality will be a priority.
-
We meet at an agreed time and place. It is your decision to have your session outdoors – if you wish to change it to indoors, phone or online, please let me know at least 1 hour prior by text or email.
-
I am comfortable being out in all but extreme weather. If I think there is a risk to either of us, I will contact you beforehand to discuss changes to the session: this could mean a change in location, an indoor, phone/online session or another day/time if available.
-
I am an experienced outdoor therapist. I risk assess each location I work in. Dynamic risk assessment is also carried out throughout our time together. I check weather and tide times prior to all sessions.
-
I ask that you follow any health and safety advice provided to keep yourself, me, and the environment safe.
-
We can walk, pause, sit on a bench, look at the view, or engage with the environment to suit your needs, and at your pace
-
Being outdoors may expose you to risks. If you require medical assistance (e.g., after a fall) you agree to my contacting the necessary medical services on your behalf.
-
I carry a charged mobile phone (07768 426194), a personal alarm and a first aid kit. I have an up to date outdoor first aid qualification.
-
I am a member of the I.O.L Sector Specialist Group A.O.T (Association for Outdoor Therapy).
